Partial discharge (PD) is a kind of non-penetrating discharge occurring between electrodes in high voltage equipment under the action of high electric field intensity. This discharge exists only in the partial position of the insulation, and does not immediately form a penetrating channel, so it is called partial discharge. Partial discharge detector can effectively detect the partial discharge value of high voltage equipment.
The use of partial discharge detector is just a tool, then how can we effectively judge whether the local discharge value is up to standard?
(1) Through a large number of laboratory simulation and field test results show that the phase of the local discharge signal and the phase of the test power supply have the phase characteristics of 180 degrees or 360 degrees, and simultaneously occur in a certain width of the phase.
(2) If multiple signal sources are found in the test, bandpass filter should be used to extract pulse signals of different frequency bands for separate analysis;
(3) whether the waveform and spectrum of the high-frequency pulse signal collected by the local emission sensor have typical local emission characteristics (the rising edge of the pulse waveform is generally tens of nanoseconds);
(4) If necessary, the actual test local discharge waveform and the waveform of the test loop calibration using analog local discharge source are repeatedly compared to observe the similarity of the signal;
(5) Polarity discrimination: using the polarity of the pulse waveform to identify the location of the local discharge source.
