1. Check the normal state of the instrument
Before using the instrument, you can follow the following steps to check whether the instrument works normally.
1.1 When pulse is triggered, press the power button, and the main view window of the instrument will be displayed on the LCD screen. There are words and data such as fault distance, wave velocity, measuring range and proportion on the LCD screen.
1.2 Press the panel button, the active cursor in the middle of the instrument will move, and the fault distance data will change accordingly.
1.3 Adjust the gain potentiometer, the waveform amplitude displayed on the instrument screen will increase or decrease.
If the measuring range is changed according to the operation steps of the range menu, the measuring range and transmitting pulse width on the instrument display screen will be changed accordingly, which indicates that the instrument works normally.
2. Preliminary judgment of fault type
It is necessary to analyze the cause and type of failure before testing. General instruments such as ohmmeter and megohmmeter can be selected for preliminary analysis and judgment combined with on-site conditions and practical experience.
3. Select the working mode of trigger
In case of disconnection, poor contact, low resistance grounding and short circuit fault, pulse method should be used. If it is high resistance flashover fault of power cable, flashover method should be adopted. And the trigger working mode selection switch is placed in the corresponding position.
